(1) Don't be afraid of mathematical formulas; knowledge of probability theory required for understanding Mayo's argument is elementary. Elementary knowledge may be obtained from the following books:

(2) Review the materials (in advance) provided so far (follow the links on the main page). You don't have to be able to understand everything in these materials. Important topics will recur, and ask me or other senior students when those topics appear again in the course of reading.

As regards knowledge in science, suitable materials will be supplied on the web, as you can see on this page. And you should acquire such knowledge whenever relevant topics appear in the course of reading. Don't say "Let me study tomorrow"; do it right now!

(3) Diligence and persistence are the most important. I assure, if you wish to skip the class a couple of times a month, you will inevitably drop out!

(4) Finally, if you feel that reading English materials about 20 pages a week is too much, you should quit the university right away!
