Momo's Story: Uncle Puppy's Death (2)
Uncle Puppy's Death (2)
We, cats and dogs I mean, grow very quickly. Puppy soon became a rather big and handsome youth. He belongs to the kind called "Shiba-inu", which roughly means "little dog", among the Japanese varieties of dog; and the average weight for this kind is about 10 kilogram, but Puppy exceeded 15 kilograms within a year, and came close to 20 kilogram in a few years.

This does not mean he was too fat; rather, the whole skeleton was exceptionally large, as a member of this kind. You may also notice that his ears are exceptionally large; so that many people could not recognize him as a "Shiba-inu" (despite he had the breeder's certificate, unlike myself). You may be able to guess his magnitude from the picture with the younger daughter.[Puppy with the younger daughter, 1988; by this time, he was close to 20 kg.]
In any case, he became a good watch-dog. I have heard that when a burglar tried to get into the next-door while its family was out for a trip, Puppy prevented and expelled him; neighbors found, next morning, that one of the windows were almost broken. Look at this picture, Uncle Puppy posing with dignity!
