How to Arrive at Einstein's Field Equation

The main product of Einstein's general relativity is his field equation. According to John Archibald Wheeler's favorite phrase, "spacetime grips mass, telling how to move, and mass grips spacetime, telling how to curve", and these how's are determined according to Einstein's equation. "Spacetime curvature" is another name of a gravitational field. Here is a rough flow-chart, as told by Einstein himself in the text.
