QSL
Cards in early 1960's
WELCOME TO MY HOMEPAGE! GUEST NO. =
Updated on Nov.3rd, 2002
Here I'll introduce unusual QSL cards of 1960's. In early 60's, I
listened to English program in order to get QSL cards. Now, I
usually listen to AM radio during Internet browsing.
BBC(1962) These cards are sonosheets, which have sound grouves. A thin plastic film with circular grooves is pasted on the paper as shown in the right picture. It can play message and music by a record player. The card of a Scotish piper in national dress was very impressive. Soon the card design was changed to the right (flower). |

NSB (1962) The card of a lady with Japanese Kimono is the first card I received. I think this card is one of the most beautiful cards. The painter is Mr.Meiji Hashimoto. The picture is similar to the famous "Maiko". In 1963, the card design was changed. NSB started its broadcast in 1954. The name was changed to Radio Tanpa in 1978 and to radio NIKKEI in 2004. as the signal is very strong in Japan, it is a pilot station as well as DW and BBC. |
|
JJY(1964) JJY is a call sign of Japan standard frequency station. JJY in shortwave was discontinued on March 31st in 2001. But JJY in longwave still continues. JJY was broadcasting the Japanese standard time at 5/10MHz in 1964. A very cute card. |
|
Far East Broadcasting(1962) FEB was from Philippine/Manila in 1962. The signal was very strong. |
|
Radio Osaka(1962) The card is of 1962. In 1962, Radio Osaka was called as Osaka Broadcast Station. This card is one of my favarites. Now I usually listen to Radio Osaka with a simple 3 tube regenerative radio. When you listen to a station, a simple receiver is quiet and produces a better sound. |
