What is Sadoh?

Sadoh is known in English as tea ceremony, and involves the ritualized preparation and serving of green tea to guests. Although rare in Japan now, a full -length formal tea ceremony lasts about four hours and is designed to bring aesthetic, intellectual and physical enjoyment to guests, by getting them to focus on the beauty of nature and of the creative force of human endeavor, for example, in the crafting of beautiful objects. Guests should be totally focussed on the occasion- living in the moment - and not distracted by mundane thoughts.
