Spring in Asuka


Asuka was the capital about 1300 years ago.
Asuka is located in the center of Nara prefecture.
There are a lot of temples and remains in Asuka.
We got off the train at Asuka station. And we walked to AMAGASHI hill.

This is a sculpture made from stone. SARUISHI looks like a monkey.

The stones(the left photo) are called ONINOSETIN.
It means an ogre's toilet stool (Japanese style).

Look the right photo. This is called ONINOMANAITA.
It's an ogre's cutting board.

It is regarded as one of an ancient tomb.

This big stone looks like a turtle. It is called KAMEISHI.


Look right at the photo.
This is called FUNAISHI. It is thought that it was used to make Sake.
But it is a mystery.

From the top of the hill called AMAGASHI, we can see Asuka village.
When it was capital, peoples made Japanese old style short poem called WAKA.
In spring, cherry blossoms come out wonderful. We hatatibanave a lunch under the trees.

This is Tachibana temple.
Tachibana meens a mandarin orange.
The temple ia surrounded by rice fields.

This is an ancient tomb made of big stones.
Many tourists visit there.
