Einstein states the Law of Inertia as follows:

A body removed sufficiently far from other bodies continues in a state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line. (p. 13)

This law is important because the Newtonian Mechanics does not hold for a system where this law does not hold. Thus this law may be regarded as one of the characteristic features of the systems where the classical mechanics is valid.
