Moritz Schlick

The founder of the Vienna Cicle. He studied physics under Max Planck. From 1922 he was the Professor of Philosophy of Science at the University of Vienna, and he coordinated the Vienna Circle; this was terminated suddenly in 1936 because he was killed by a student.

As a philosopher, he worked on the philosophy of space and time, on the theory of knowledge, and also on ethics; he (like Reichenbach) was enthusiastic about relativity. Wittgenstein's and Carnap's influence on him is also important.
