Herbert Feigl
Feigl was born in Austria, and studied under Moritz Schlick. Naturally, he was a member of the Vienna Circle. However, his name became famous in the United States, and indeed all over the world, especially after he founded the Minnesota Center for Philosophy of Science in 1953. This Center is known for its vigorous activities and the publication of monumental Minnesota Studies in the Philosophy of Science; while this writer was a student, these volumes were like a Bible in the philosophy of science. And Feigl himself became a leading figure in the field of Mind-Body problem.
Most of the eminent philosophers of science of our day were associated with the Center in one way or another, and the philosophy of science owes a great deal to Feigl's excellent ability as a teacher, a scholar, and a good organizer.
